Ermine re-elected Chief at Sturgeon Lake

Apr 15, 2019 | 3:15 PM

Based on the results of last week’s election, it appears Sturgeon Lake band members are happy with the job Chief Greg Ermine is doing.

He was re-elected to a second term.

Anita Parenteau and Solomon Sanderson represent the two new faces on council. Velmer Ermine, Christine Longjohn, Dalton Kingfisher and Fred Felix were all re-elected.

To help accomodate band members living off reserve, there were three separate voting days held last week. Ballots were cast in Saskatoon on April 10, then again in Prince Albert on April 11, and in Sturgeon Lake on April 12.

Chief Electoral Officer Daryl Kingfisher told paNOW there were 902 ballots cast out of a total of 1,896 eligible voters. Kingfisher said he could not disclose the vote counts for the individual candidates.
