Ponticelli to host Saskatchewan Roughrider games through Pattison Media radio stations

May 6, 2022 | 4:24 PM

Those listening to Saskatchewan Roughrider broadcasts this season on Pattison Media stations may hear a new but familiar voice over the airwaves.

Our Daniella Ponticelli, voice of the Huskies women’s hockey team, will be heard even more on Pattison radio in Saskatchewan, as a sideline reporter and host for Saskatchewan Roughrider broadcasts.

“When it comes to football, I’ve had a huge passion for football for a couple decades and the Roughriders in particular when I moved to Saskatchewan 10 years ago,” Ponticelli told paNOW. “Being at the games was always great but of course there’s always a little part of you that’s like I wonder what it would be like down on the field.

“I still can’t really put into words how I feel about that. It’s overwhelming in a lot of ways just the responsibility to be given that opportunity I take it very seriously, but I’m also excited to have fun with it because football an incredible sport. It’s great to watch, great to report on and I can only imagine what these seasons are going to bring there’s always drama. I love it.”

During Rider homes games, Ponticelli will be hosting the pregame before making her way down to the sidelines.

From South Africa she moved to the prairies at the age of 10 and quickly discovered a love of sports, especially football.

Last year Ponticelli became a part of the first all-female U Sports broadcast crew launched by Pattison Media doing play-by-play for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s hockey team. She will continue to do Huskies games beginning in December.

“It’s something you almost don’t even dare to dream because it’s hard to see for yourself and then when you’re able to actually start making your way on that journey and you see how people trust you with these opportunities it means the world and it’s something I don’t take lightly. I’m just so grateful for it.”
