Apr 28, 2022 | 10:00 AM

A 31-year-old man is being sought by Nipawin and Tisdale RCMP after the driver of a truck failed to stop for police in Aylsham.

Officers from Nipawin say they attempted to stop the driver of a stolen truck on April 25 in the community, but the driver fled the scene.

The driver continued south out of the community, with police last seeing him at about 10:00 pm.

The following day, the truck was found abandoned in the rural area near Bjorkdale.

Matthew Barker of Swan River, Man. is being sought by police and has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, trafficking in stolen property, fraudulently impersonating another person to avoid prosecution, failing to stop while being pursued by a peace officer, dangerous operation of a conveyance and failure to comply.

He is described as 5’11” tall, about 250 pounds and with black hair and brown eyes.

Barker has numerous tattoos on his forearms and a large tattoo on his neck. He may be armed and, as he is considered dangerous, the public should not approach him.

Anyone that sees Barker is asked to contact their nearest RCMP detachment or police service.

If it is an emergency, call 911 or people can report information or tips about his whereabouts anonymously by calling 1-800-222-8477.
