Boys Crusaders fly into Hoopla with big win over Marauders; three P.A. teams headed to 5A provincials

Prince Albert will be very well represented at the Hoopla 2022 SHSAA 5A Basketball Championships next weekend in Regina, as three P.A. senior basketball teams snapped up four available qualifying spots at regional tournaments this weekend.

In the 5A Boys division, both the Carlton Crusaders and St. Mary Marauders qualified for the big dance after they both finished in the top two of the regional tournament this weekend in Carlton. The Crusaders defeated the Marauders 93-60 in the regional finals to take the top side in the 5A Boys Rural region at Carlton.

The Crusaders beat Lloydminster 105-53 and Weyburn 76-56 to get into the qualifier, before defeating the Marauders in the regional final. The Marauders beat Yorkton 65-50 and Balgonie Greenall 109-75.

The St. Mary Marauders senior girls basketball team also qualified for Hoopla. They defeated Carlton 59-44 in the 5A Girls Regionals in Swift Current on Saturday, to punch their ticket to the provincials. The Marauders fell in the finals to regional hosts Swift Current 90-31.
