Former Prince Albert Raiders captain Brayden Pachal made his NHL debut on Tuesday. Pachal wore the number 94 jersey for the Vegas Golden Knights in their 7-3 defeat to the Winnipeg Jets. Pachal played 10:31 in the game and was -1.

Earlier this season, Pachal was named as the captain of the Henderson Silver Knights, the AHL-affiliates of the Golden Knights. He has a goal and eight points in 47 games for the Silver Knights, along with 58 penalty minutes. This is Pachal’s third professional hockey season after captaining the Raiders to the 2019 WHL Championship title.

Raiders take on Broncos

A few weeks ago, the Prince Albert Raiders were in 11th place in the WHL Eastern Conference and were eyeing down the then-eighth place Swift Current Broncos for that final playoff spot.

Since then, both teams have switched spots. The Raiders have been red hot with a 4-0-1 record in their last five games, and 6-3-1-0 record in their last 10. The Broncos have done almost the exact opposite, as they are 0-4-0-1 in their last five, and 3-6-0-1 in their last 10.

The Raiders and Broncos face each other Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre as the two teams make up a game originally scheduled for Jan. 8.

The Raiders have only played the Broncos twice so far this year, beating the Broncos 4-1 on Nov. 13 in Swift Current, and getting a point in a 5-4 overtime defeat at the Art Hauser Centre on Dec. 7.

Ozzy Wiesblatt, the Prince of Darkness himself, has a goal and four points in two games against the Broncos this year. Dallyn Peekeekoot had two goals against the Broncos in the Dec. 13 victory.

For the Broncos, Owen Pickering has scored in both games.

Check out voice of the Raiders Rob Mahon’s broadcast of the game on CKBI with pre-game coverage starting at 6:30 p.m.
