That’s why Karen Morley, owner of K Bridal in Prince Albert, tries to make the shopping in her boutique a personal experience for every bride-to-be.

“People should be able to feel relaxed. It’s a small store and I like to get to know the brides and what they are looking for,” said Morley. “I want them to enjoy themselves when they come to us, after all, trying on wedding dresses should be fun. Even if they don’t buy their dress from us, I want them to have a positive experience and hope that they pass that on to others.”

That word-of-mouth advertising seems to be working. K Bridal was voted the ‘Best Bridal Shop’ in the Best of the Best (BOB) awards.

Morley is a seamstress by trade, making her K Bridal a one-stop-shop for brides-to-be. She offers wedding dresses from labels like Stella York and Essense of Australia, mother-of-the-bride, graduation and flower girl dresses, in addition to veils, hair pieces, jewellery, undergarments and of course the alterations. She even offers marriage licenses and emphasizes you don’t have to go to larger centres like Saskatoon to find your perfect dress.

“It’s such a rewarding experience when you see someone put on a dress and they get that bridal moment. Everyone can and should have that ‘I feel beautiful’ moment and that’s a big thing for me,” Morley said.

“I listen to the brides and encourage them to try on all styles of dress because you never know – the right dress could surprise you. It often does and it’s a really nice moment when you can help people say ‘wow, that’s my dress.’
