P.A. resident trying to have family in Ukraine flee to Canada
A Prince Albert resident originally from Ukraine is hoping to have his family move to Canada as the country continues to fight off a Russian invasion.
Anton Shaposhnyk moved to Canada five years ago, while his parents, 15-year-old sister, and 11-year-old brother continue to live in Ukraine. His 18-year-old sister is currently stuck in Poland as she had left the country just before Russia started its attack.
Originally far away from the invasion, his family has been forced into bunkers as the bombing has reached the outskirts of their village.
“They’re out there all the time, basically at night,” Shaposhnyk said. “They can’t tell where the bomb is going to land.”
