COVID levels dropping in P.A. and North Battleford: study

COVID-19 levels are dropping in Prince Albert and North Battleford.

That’s according to the University of Saskatchewan which has been studying wastewater in the two communities to determine how prevalent the virus is.

In their weekly P.A. report, researchers note there was a roughly 22 per cent decrease in levels.

Around 98 per cent of the levels were the Omicron variant, while the Delta variant has become undetectable.

In North Battleford, the city’s weekly report shows a 31 per cent drop in levels.

Just like in P.A., the Omicron variant continues to be the main strain, however, it’s accounting for 95 per cent of the community’s volume.

The U of S researchers added each city may see changes in their active case totals, though it depends on whether people get tested and report their results to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Meanwhile, Saskatoon is seeing a roughly 62 per cent jump in levels.

Out of the three cities, P.A. is currently seeing the highest volume of COVID in its wastewater, followed by North Battleford and then Saskatoon.
