P.A. well represented as nominees for Saskatchewan Country Music Awards

The best of the best in Saskatchewan’s country music industry will soon be honoured and some local names are on the list.

The nominees for the 2022 Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) Awards were unveiled earlier this week.

Some local musicians are up for multiple awards including Munro & Patrick and Donny Parenteau. Parenteau is nominated for Male Artist of The Year, Indigenous Artist of the Year, and Producer of The Year.

Munro & Patrick are up for Group of the Year, Interactive Artist or Group of The Year, and Songwriter of the Year for “Give Me Your Rain”. The duo is also nominated for Alternative Country Album of the Year along with local artist Larry Krause.

Other local artists vying for awards include Katelyn Lehner for Female Artist of the Year, Roland Corrigal for Indigenous Artist of The Year, Dean Kushneryk for Drummer of the Year and Dean Bernier and Kerri English for Fiddle Player of the Year.

Dennis Adams is nominated for Guitar Player of the Year.

Prince Albert could also be recognized in other categories including Music Venue, On-Air Personality and Radio Station of the Year.

The EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts is nominated in the music venue category while 900 CKBI is a finalist for station of the year – major market with Christy Beggs, Cal Gratton, and Matt Ryan nominated for personality of the year.
