COVID levels rising in P.A. & dropping in North Battleford: study

Feb 15, 2022 | 4:00 PM

COVID levels are increasing in Prince Albert but dropping in North Battleford.

That’s according to the University of Saskatchewan which has been studying wastewater in the communities to determine how prevalent the virus is.

In their weekly P.A. report, researchers note there was a nearly 74 per cent increase in levels.

Over 96 per cent of the levels were the Omicron variant, while the Delta variant has become undetectable.

In North Battleford, the city’s weekly report shows a 10 per cent drop.

Just like in P.A., the Omicron variant is accounting for over 96 per cent of levels, while the Delta variant is nowhere to be found.

The U of S researchers added each city may see changes in their active case totals, though it depends on whether people get tested and report their results to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Meanwhile, Saskatoon, the third and last city a part of the wastewater study, is seeing a roughly 44 per cent drop in levels.
