Prince Albert police are confirming a man reported missing in December was the victim of a homicide, and they have also made an arrest.

Raine Tristen Von Farrow, a 23-year-old man from Prince Albert, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Byron Bear.

On December 6, 2021, just after 4:00 a.m., police responded to a property on Third Ave. and Ninth Street East for a report of gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found evidence of a serious assault but no victim. Byron Bear was reported missing that same day, and when interviewed by paNOW, his mom explained she had spoken to her son earlier that morning. She also indicated he made no mention what his plans were, nor if he was in any sort of trouble.

“We’re all hurting for him and this is the first time he hasn’t called us to come home and it’s been too long,” she said.

Farrow made a brief appearance in Prince Albert Provincial court Thursday morning, and his charge was formally read to him by the judge.

The case was adjourned to Friday morning.
