Raiders and Blades trading wins, Vitelli and Stanick hit milestones

Dec 28, 2021 | 10:01 AM

The seesaw continues to rock back and forth between the Saskatoon Blades and the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Raiders fell 4-1 to the Blades on Monday at the Art Hauser Centre, marking the fourth straight game the two teams have traded wins. The Raiders won the final game between the two teams before the holiday break, 4-1 on Dec. 18, a day after losing 3-2 at home. The Raiders started off the year with two wins over the Blades, 5-2 on Nov. 6 and 5-1 on Nov. 5.

Landon Kosior had the lone goal for the Raiders in Monday’s defeat, his seventh of the season.

Reece Vitelli and Sloan Stanick both played in milestone games. Vitelli played in his 250th WHL career game, while Stanick played in his 100th career game.

Goaltender Tikhon Chaika made his 11th straight appearance for the Raiders in the contest.

Up next

Instead of the traditional post-holiday home-and-home series between the Raiders and Blades, the rivalry rematch will be delayed slightly. The Red Deer Rebels will visit the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday before the Raiders will head back to the SaskTel Centre to take on the Blades.

The Raiders will then host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Jan. 2 before a home-and-home against the Swift Current Broncos Jan. 7-8, with the home leg being on Jan. 8 at the Art Hauser Centre.
