One week after a fire nearly consumed a house in Prince Albert’s East Hill area, the cause remains unknown.

On Dec. 21, at approximately 10:24 a.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to the unit block of 28th St. E.

On arrival crews found a fully involved house fire with flames venting through the front window.

According to a statement on the department’s Facebook page, the fire was extinguished, but the structure itself suffered significant smoke and fire damage. There were no injuries reported.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the fire dept. confirmed investigators have been to the scene but as of yet had not determined whether it was suspicious or something else.

A busy Christmas and Boxing Day

Within a 48 hour period, members of the Prince Albert Fire Dept. seemingly had little time to enjoy opening presents or eat some turkey.

Among the most notable calls was a structure fire on Christmas morning in the 500 block of 26th St. E. On arrival, light smoke could be seen coming from the rear of the structure.

Crews made entry into a lower-level suite, located a fire in a bedroom, and extinguished the burning materials.

The fire was fortunately contained to the room of origin. The remainder of the structure was checked for fire and smoke extension. After the unit was cleared of smoke, the structure was turned over to the owner. No injuries were reported.

Later that day, at approximately 5 p.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 500 block of 7th St. E.

A plumbing vent was found to be giving off steam on the roof, and it was mistaken for smoke. No emergency existed.

On Dec. 26th, at approximately 3:13 a.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to Davis Road in the Rural Municipality of Prince Albert for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully involved. The fire was extinguished, but the vehicle was a total loss.
