Several Prince Albert firefighters will be “serenading” people with Christmas carols as part of a new fundraiser.

But, as those firefighters will tell you, they have no business singing any of those songs, but they do it anyway to support Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

On Tuesday, the Prince Albert Firefighters Association, Sparky The Dog and Santa Claus himself started their “Stop The Caroling” tour at Kin Enterprises.

Residents at the facility were grateful to hear the firefighters and sing along to classics like “Jingle Bells”, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”, and “Feliz Navidad.”

Ryan Robin with the charity said they’ve had many fundraisers in the past including a rooftop campout and the “Fill the Boot” campaign, but they wanted to try something different.

“We were thinking and brainstorming trying to figure out ways to raise some kind of awareness for this cause and raise some money for this cause. Christmas time is a tough time because everyone has lots of stuff going on so what better way than the put our terrible singing voices out there.”

The tour was originally scheduled to start last Friday but was postponed as Prince Albert experienced windchills of minus 30 and colder that weekend.

According to the charity’s Facebook page, they are pre-booking tour stops around the city of Prince Albert, to showcase what little talent firefighters have in singing your favourite Christmas Carols.

“If you want these firefighters to stop singing then you can donate to STOP!!!!! Donations larger than $200.00 will allow you to pick the next target for these singing goons.”

Robin, who has been with the department for over 10 years, is encouraging anyone who wants to support this Christmas fundraiser.

“If you were to go our Facebook page, Prince Albert Firefighters’ charity, we have a link on there that you can donate that way or you can meet us at these stops or if you reach in contact with our charity email, someone will get a hold of you.”
