Mr. Grinch changes his ways, gives cheer for a good cause

It appears that Mr. Grinch isn’t that mean after all.

The not-so-grouchy creature emerged from his cave in Mount Crumpit, and travelled all the way to Prince Albert to raise money for the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric unit.

Mr. Grinch stood at the side of 15th Street just outside Cornerstone Insurance on Saturday, with a sign that read ‘Honk for the Grinch.’

Despite coming a little early to set up, there was already a line of kids and their parents hoping to get a photo with the famous Christmas character.

“It means the world to me. I came from healthcare for seven-and-a-half years in Regina. I’ve seen the kids at the hospital,” Mr. Grinch said. “I was young once and spent time at the hospital at Christmas. Just to be able to give back to them is 100 per cent important to me.”

Last year, Santa Claus appeared at the spot at times, but Mr. Grinch said people prefer to see him more.

On Friday, the 16th Annual Give a Little Life Day for the Victoria Hospital Foundation raised $351,281.68.
