Five new COVID-19 deaths, but lowest new case number since Aug. 3

Five more people have died from COVID-19, according to the Government of Saskatchewan’s Saturday update on the coronavirus. Since the pandemic began, 891 deaths in the province have been linked to COVID-19.

There are also 180 hospitalizations currently in the province, an increase of two from Friday.

New cases are trending down in the province, as there are just 53 new cases reported. Aug. 3 was the last time a daily case number was lower, when 25 cases were found. This is also the second time this week that new cases were reported in two digits.

Of the new cases, only six were in the North and Far North zones combined, with three reporting in the North Central, and the other three in the Far North West.

NITHA numbers

There were six new cases to report on Nov. 12 in Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) communities. Of the new cases, five (83 per cent) were unvaccinated and one (17 per cent) were partially vaccinated.

There are 56 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), zero; Far North West, 21; Far North East, seven; North Central, 24; and North East, four; 6,797 cases (99 per cent) have recovered, and 6 people are hospitalized.
