Prince Albert MLA frustrated by billboard vandalism

The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Prince Albert Carlton says it’s very unfortunate someone would resort to vandalism to express their opinion.

Joe Hargrave commented on a recent incident in which the word “COMMIES” was spray painted in black across a Sask. Party billboard. The billboard is located on the south end of the city’s outskirts and contains the faces of local Prince Albert MLA’s Joe Hargrave and Alana Ross; as well as Premier Scott Moe.

Hargrave told paNOW he has no issue with people expressing their opinions.

“I mean they are free to do that but vandalism is going over the top and shouldn’t be tolerated,” he said. “I hope that moving forward the person or persons responsible will express their concerns in a different manner.”

Hargrave suggested if someone has a concern they are welcome to contact his office, post to social media, or even contact the media. With respect to this specific incident, and the reference to government mandates, Hargrave said he has been called all kinds of names.

“You know it’s an unfortunate part of politics that happens but you know there is a proper way to express your opinion and there’s a way not to express it,” he said.

Hargrave also acknowledged the incident has been reported to police.
