Unfortunately in today’s working world, many of us spend most of our days being sedentary (in meetings, on our commute, etc.). In fact, adults in Canada are sedentary for 10 hours per day (excluding sleep time) and only 16% are meeting national physical activity guidelines of 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each week.
Providing opportunities and encouraging activity during the workday can lead to an increase in workplace productivity and a decrease in absenteeism – not to mention more social connection and fun! The positive impact of physical activity can be experienced by employers and employees, and is good for everyone’s bottom line.
