Back on Sept. 16, Prince Albert Minto returnee Zach Bansley scored five points in a 7-4 preseason win over the Tisdale Trojans—but injured his wrist in a late-game scrum as tempers flared between the rivals.

Bansley was forced to miss all but one game until Wednesday’s road contest against the Battlefords Stars, where he finally was able to get back on the scoresheet with a pair of goals to lead his Mintos to a safe 6-1 win over the Battlefords Stars. The Mintos improve to 8-4-1 on the year, while the Stars fall to 3-8-2 in the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League regular season.

Both of Bansley’s goals came on the power play, with 3:50 remaining in the first period and 47 seconds into the second. Van Taylor kicked off the game 5:48 in, scoring his first U18 AAA career goal.

Ryan Lepitzki, Ashton Tait, and Jacob Cossette all scored in the second period, as the Mintos had a 6-0 advantage after 40 minutes of play.

Treycen Wuttunee scored for the Stars with 5:43 remaining in the game to get the hosts on the board to break Ty Shumanski’s shutout bid. Shumanski made 27 saves on 28 shots for the Mintos’ win, he’s fifth in seven starts. Shumanski now sports a 1.84 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.

The Mintos will travel to Tisdale to take on the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Tisdale Recplex.
