Police receive 428 calls during Thanksgiving long weekend

Prince Albert police say they responded to over 400 calls this Thanksgiving long weekend.

The exact number was 428 calls, with 36 arrests according to a weekend update from police.

In the update, police also provided details on three separate crimes from the long weekend.

In one case, police responded to a property near Second Ave. and 15th St. West early Monday morning. Officers were called to reports that a woman was in a vehicle carrying bear mace. Police found the vehicle around 10th St. and Third Ave. East just after 2:30 a.m. Officers also found a sawed-off rifle and ammunition.

A 25-year-old woman from Prince Albert was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon while a 24-year-old man faces numerous firearms charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Four people were also charged with firearms offences after police stopped a vehicle at 24th St. and Second Ave. West around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Police found several loaded firearms, a replica firearm, a knife, and ammunition.

A 22-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Prince Albert along with a 27-year-old man from Nipawin and a 31-year-old woman from Pakwaw Lake were charged.

Finally, police charged a woman after allegedly attempting to steal items from a local business and threatened staff with scissors. The woman reportedly assaulted one of the staff members during the incident on Saturday night. A 26-year-old woman was charged with assault with a weapon and breach of court order.
