Feedback wanted on allowing e-scooters on public roads across Saskatchewan

Oct 12, 2021 | 2:00 PM

The Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) is looking for public feedback on e-scooters.

Currently, under the Traffic Safety Act, they aren’t allowed on any public road in Saskatchewan as they aren’t licensed motor vehicles.

They are only allowed on municipal sidewalks or pathways, if they can be regulated, and private property.

The SGI will be reaching out to municipalities, law enforcement, safety organizations, and business owners to get their thoughts.

The public can send their feedback directly to the company by emailing them at autofundpartnershipsupport@sgi.sk.ca.

They will be accepting feedback until Nov. 1, 2021, and plan to take the entire fall before deciding whether to make any recommendations.

Safety will be the biggest roadblock as they will have to consider multiple factors like inexperienced drivers, speeds, and equipment.
