Rose Garden Hospice one step closer to fundraising goal after community donation

Oct 9, 2021 | 10:57 AM

The Rose Garden Hospice received another donation from the community of Prince Albert yesterday, this time from the Memorial Gardens.

On Friday they donated $2,500 to the Rose Garden Hospice, putting them about $1.1 million away from their fundraising goal of just over $4 million.

“It is certainly great to be able to contribute. It is a great organization to contribute to, and a very necessary thing we need in our city,” Ward 4 councillor, Don Cody told paNOW. “We, on the behalf of the Prince Albert Memorial Gardens like to do this because we like to give back to the community, they have been very good to us over the years.

“All of us are going to need something like this one day, and we are proud to be able to do it.”

The donation comes from the Arbor Memorial Foundation fund.

“We are proud to be a part of the community and are really happy to give back,” said Austin Atchison, branch manager of the Memorial Gardens. “From our branch, this is our first donation towards the Rose Garden Hospice.”

Ralph Boychuk, board member said they have begun construction of the property and added there have been no hiccups so far.

“We are happy to report that the services are being put in as we speak,” Boychuk said. “We are getting some evidence of the journey of building this facility right now. It’s so important for us to have that going.”

He also added they are facing limitations in the supply market for materials, but have not faced any significant problems yet.

“We certainly appreciate the contribution from Memorial Gardens, and their sense of support for the organization,” Boychuk said. “We are extremely pleased with the contributions from all across the city and area. It gives us encouragement to continue on this journey that we are currently on. It’s pleasantly surprising to see the generosity of businesses and the community, supporting a well worth cause.”

The Rose Garden Hospice officially broke ground in July. They are still accepting online donations and can be made on their website or Facebook page.
