VACCINE PASSPORT

Vaccine passport system now in effect for Prince Albert

Oct 1, 2021 | 8:00 AM

UPDATE: The City of Prince Albert has reported the proof of vaccination order does not apply to the museums, library or the Steaurt or Kinsmen Arenas as previously indicated.

The province’s proof of vaccination system for some non-essential businesses is now here.

This means proof of vaccination will be required to enter many establishments across Saskatchewan.

The government announced the system on Sept. 16, along with a province-wide masking order for indoor public places which went into effect the following day.

These include restaurants, nightclubs, bars, taverns, party buses and other establishments that serve alcohol.

The list also includes cinemas, theatres, bingo halls, concert halls, live-music venues, fitness centres, gyms, standalone liquor and cannabis stores.

In Prince Albert, many city facilities are also requiring a proof of vaccination. This will include all events at the EA Rawlinson Centre for The Arts, ticketed events at the Art Hauser Centre, Kinsmen Arena and Steuart Arena; gym and fitness classes at the Alfred Jenkins Field House and Margo Fournier Centre; The Knotty Pine Bistro, and the Prince Albert Library.

Businesses exempt from this order include:

  • Retail businesses;
  • Grocery stores;
  • Off-sale liquor stores and liquor stores found in other retail stores;
  • Places of worship;
  • Personal services, health care services, professional services;
  • Hotels or lodging including self-serve food within the hotel or other lodging;
  • Facilities hosting amateur sporting events, including youth athletics and recreational leagues;
  • Private gatherings at public venues (weddings/funerals/wakes/meetings);
  • Private gatherings at private residences.

Options for proof of vaccine status include wallet cards received at time of immunization; a printed copy of your MySaskHealthRecord (MSHR) vaccine certificate; a screenshot of your MSHR vaccine certificate; an earlier version of your MSHR COVID-19 vaccine certificate; a COVID-19 vaccine printout from Saskatchewan Health Authority Public Health; or, a QR code/MSHR vaccine certificate uploaded to the SK Vax Wallet app.

Anyone who does not have proof of vaccination, including partially vaccinated people and those who have medical or religious exemptions that prohibit them from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 72 hours.

Only COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test results provided by certified healthcare providers, including private providers will be accepted.

The cost for all proof of negative test results will be the responsibility of the individual.
