Oct 1, 2021 | 3:00 PM

Prince Albert Police are after two suspects following an armed robbery early Thursday afternoon in the city’s Crescent Heights neighbourhood.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., police were called to AJ’s convenience store for a report that two males had threatened staff with both a knife and a gun before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The store manager told paNOW there was at least one other customer in the store at the time of the incident but fortunately no one was physically hurt, albeit still shaken up.

As a result of this incident, several elementary schools in the immediate area were briefly locked down while police investigated.

According to a statement from the Prince Albert Catholic School Division, hold and secure protocols were initiated at St. Catherine Catholic School, École Holy Cross, St. John, and St. Francis Schools. The lockdown was described as “precautionary” in nature and all schools resumed regular operation by 1:45 p.m.

“Thank you to Prince Albert Police Services and the staff in our schools for quickly and diligently ensuring the safety of students and staff,” the statement said.

In the meantime, the suspects have not yet been caught and police have supplied the media with pictures taken from the store’s security camera. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
