Sep 21, 2021 | 5:48 PM

Due to ongoing community transmission, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has officially declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Muskoday First Nation.

As of Monday, there were 14 active cases and three people in hospital.

According to a statement from Indigenous Services Canada, contact tracing is underway. They’ve also explained public health will be contacting anyone who is considered a close contact.

In the meantime band members, living on reserve, are being encouraged to get vaccinated and to stay home if any symptoms develop.

Regional Medical Health Officer Ibrahim Khan has also asked people to avoid mass gatherings; to practice social distancing; and to remember to wash hands often with soap and water.

Drive-thru COVID testing is currently being offered Monday and Thursday mornings at the Muskoday Health Centre.

Testing is also available in Prince Albert at the Cone Shop on Sixth Ave. E., as well as at Chief Joseph Custer Reserve on 23rd St. E.

For those looking to get vaccinated, there is a clinic being offered Wednesday at Senator Allen Bird Centre in Prince Albert. There’s also clinics being offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre.
