Young children and gun found inside vehicle, driven by impaired man says RCMP

Sep 20, 2021 | 3:56 PM

RCMP say three young children were found in the back seat of a vehicle, where both the driver and the front seat passenger were intoxicated.

The incident happened last Thursday evening in Pinehouse and came about as a result of a call RCMP initially received from a member of the public that a person wanted on several warrants was driving in the town.

After locating the vehicle and stopping it, officers observed the driver switch seats with the front seat passenger.

“Pinehouse RCMP would like to thank the member of the community for contacting police regarding this matter,” Pinehouse RCMP Detachment Commander. Sgt. Daniel Lozinski said in a statement. “Working together like this contributes to a safer community for all of us.”

The front seat passenger, a 42-year-old woman from Prince Albert, has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample, child endangerment, and resisting arrest. She has been scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 10.

The driver, a 45-year-old man from Prince Albert, faces similar charges as well as driving while disqualified, failure to comply with release order, fail to comply with probation order, and unauthorized possession of a firearm as a gun was found inside the vehicle.

He was also arrested on warrants from multiple Saskatchewan RCMP detachments. He appeared in court Monday morning.

RCMP have not released the names of the accused.
