Sep 17, 2021 | 12:03 PM

The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) is remembering the life of Senator Simon Robillard.

Robillard passed away Wednesday at the age of 92.

In a news release, the PAGC said Robillard was a highly-respected leader, known for his ties to the land and his knowledge of the Dene history, culture and traditions of the Athabasca sector.

“He will be dearly missed for his years of service and dedication to PAGC,” said Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte. “We send our prayers to his family, friends, and community of Black Lake Denesuline Nation during this difficult time.”

A viewing will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel at 3:00 p.m., with a service to follow on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Senator Allen Memorial Gym.

The funeral service will be held on Sept. 22 at the Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church on Black Lake Denesuline Nation.
