Cossette and Bansley combine for huge nights in Mintos’ win over Trojans

The long pandemic delay didn’t dampen the Prince Albert Minto—Tisdale Trojan rivalry one bit.

The Mintos defeated the Trojans 7-4 in a chippy, scrappy, penalty-filled affair preseason match up. Each team was assessed more than a period in penalty minutes, with 26 each.

Jacob Cossette led the way for the Mintos with a hat trick and an assist before he was helped to the dressing room midway through the third period. Cossette absorbed a high hit from Trojan Jack Bechard while heading off the ice for a change and did not return to the game.

Zach Bansley had the most points in the game, as his two-goal, five-point night help lift the Mintos. Travis Swanson and Matthew Cudmore also scored for the Mintos.

Nicolas Jensen won the game for the Mintos, making 16 saves on 20 shots. Pavel McKenzie, Carter Ralston, Parker Dunn, and Madden Wallis all scored for the Trojans.

The Mintos’ next Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League game is on Saturday against the Warman Wildcats, 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.
