Live History is making its way to Prince Albert

Aug 23, 2021 | 5:00 PM

The Prince Albert Historical Museum has numerous opportunities coming up for visitors to learn about local history.

On Thursday and Friday the Historical Society will be hosting all-day events that will begin with a mystery workshop at 10 a.m.

The Historical Society partnered with Canadian company, ‘Live History’ who do interactive theatre at history sites across the country to bring history to life.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear from the live history performers and learn how they use mysteries in their different shows. They will also have a chance to create their own mystery as well.

“It’s almost like an escape room,” Joanna Wreakes, museum educator told paNOW. “They are going to be coaching you through building your own mystery interactive theatre performance.”

The workshops will be held in the morning, with the historical society hosting live shows by the Live History performers at 2 p.m. 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

On Thursday they will be showing ‘The Interview’ at the John Diefenbaker house located at 246 19th Street West, while on Friday they will be showing ‘Behind Glass” at the museum.

“You’ll walk through and have to solve some puzzles and clues,” Wreakes said. “On Thursday, the show is kind of like a mock job interview to work at a historic house. Then on the 27th they will be solving a mystery at the historical museum.

“We’ll have some of our displays and historical figures come to life and guide the visitors to try and solve this mystery.”

Seating is limited due to room size, up to 30 people can be accommodated, and there are still a few tickets left. The workshop is meant for people of all ages, tickets are $5 each. Tickets for the live performances are $25.

Tickets can be acquired ahead of time either in person or by calling the museum.
