Edmonton man charged with sexual and luring offences
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged an Edmonton man with numerous sexual and luring offences in relation to an investigation through an online social media application.
In April, the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) received a complaint from a parent that their child had been lured online and a subsequent sexual assault had occurred. The Sask ICE unit along with PAPS Child Protection Unit investigated the allegations. They were able to identify a suspect and a location in Edmonton. A search warrant was executed in a residence and on a vehicle in Edmonton on Aug. 12 with help from the Edmonton Police Service and ALERT. Electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
Ullas Pappu, 37, of Edmonton was arrested and has been charged with sexual assault, luring, exposing genitals to a person under 16, and possession of child pornography among other charges.
He was released by a judge in Edmonton and will be appearing in Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Prince Albert on Sept. 30.
