As things are slowly starting to get back to normal, one thing is for sure — Saskatoon really missed the Ex.

Last summer, the Saskatoon Exhibition was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic for the first time in its history. This year, the event came back with a bang and two extra days of fun.

Kristy Rempel, the Marketing Manager at Prairieland Park told 650 CKOM, 2021 was a little different, but still great, nonetheless.

“We are really excited with the turnout and very, very excited with the support of the community,” Rempel said.

“We went from about nine-month planning, to nine weeks in order to get the event up off the ground so, there were a few things that we put together fairly quickly … We have a really great team here, so as we put them together we saw a great event happening.”

The Ex is known for the show-stopping headliners in the grandstand, fun carnival games, foods you can’t find anywhere else and thrilling rides. Every night at 11 p.m. there is a firework show and Sundays at the Ex revolve around getting the family together for some fun.

“Sunday is Family Day, so come on down! Seniors have free attendance at the Saskatoon Ex today and there’s a wristband deal for kids ten and under,” Rempel added.

This year, Ex coordinators were unsure how the public would react to being in a crowd again, but the numbers prove that the Ex was a hit.

“On Saturday we actually saw 46,163 people come through the gate, which is a big Saturday for us, for even most years,” Rempel said. “So that makes our total so far for the seven of the eight days that the fair was running in 2021 (to) 204,833.”

Sunday is the final day of the Saskatoon Ex. The event will come to a close at midnight.
