Listen: Farmers struggle to fill grain contracts

MELFORT, Sask. — A deferred delivery contract locks in the price for a certain quantity of a base grade of grain to be delivered to a certain location at some date in the future.
As Jim Wickett with the Western Canadian Wheat Growers tells Alice McFarlane with Ag Access, a poor crop has meant many farmers can’t fill those contracts.
