RCMP seek suspect after serious incident in RM of Buckland

UPDATE: As of Thursday morning there had been no update from RCMP regarding their efforts to locate suspect, Glen Frederick Halkett.

As of Wednesday afternoon Mounties were still on the hunt for a suspect in the alleged theft of a truck involving a firearm in the RM of Buckland Wednesday morning.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

RCMP are advising the community of Sturgeon Lake First Nation about increased police presence there.

Glen Frederick Halkett, 25, of Sturgeon Lake First Nation may also be connected to a robbery with a firearm at Little Red River First Nation on Saturday.

Halkett may be in one of the surrounding First Nations or in Prince Albert or Shellbrook, but this is not confirmed.

In a media release, RCMP said officers were deployed to the area and quickly located the suspect vehicle. However, they were unable to stop it.

The investigation into the Little Red incident resulted in charges against Halkett. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

He’s described as being 5’6″ tall and weighing approximately 130 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Halkett may be in the communities of Little Red River First Nation, Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Prince Albert, Shellbrook or Ahtahkakoop First Nation, but this is not confirmed.

RCMP said the public should not approach him and should call 911 immediately if they see him.
