Police investigating attempted sexual assault by Meadow Lake Provincial Park

Pierceland RCMP are asking the public for assistance as they investigate an attempted sexual assault that occurred by Meadow Lake Provincial Park.

Officers were dispatched around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday evening to the junction of Highways 224 and 950, near the gate of the park. According to the RCMP’s investigation, a male armed with a knife approached a female who was working in the wooded area and attempted to sexually assault her. She received minor injruies, but was able to fight him off and escape.

The male is described as being under 30 years old, tall and thin with tan skin, wearing dark clothing, sunglasses and a bandanna that covered his face. Pierceland RCMP is actively investigating this incident with assistance from Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment Conservation Officers, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Section and the North Battleford General Investigation Section.

Anyone who saw any parked vehicles or pedestrians in the area that evening are asked to call Pierceland RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
