Jul 31, 2021 | 9:49 AM

A 15-year member of the Swift Current Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan is charged with impaired driving.

RCMP responded to a call around 10 p.m. Tuesday about an erratic driver in Waldeck.

An investigation led officers to arrest Kevin Granrude at the scene.

He was held in custody overnight and released Wednesday morning with conditions and his license was suspended.

At around 1:45 p.m. Mounties received another complaint about an erratic driver. This time on Highway 1 near the community of Rush Lake, just east of Swift Current.

According to an RCMP news release, the vehicle was stopped and Granrude failed a roadside screening test.

He was arrested and held in custody.

Granrude was not on duty or in a police vehicle at the time of either incident.

Both vehicles he was driving were impounded and the Swift Current Rural RCMP detachment continues to investigate the Wednesday afternoon incident.

Granrude made his first court appearance on Thursday and is expected back on Aug. 19.

He is suspended from the RCMP with pay while the service conducts an internal review and considers disciplinary measures.
