Carnival Bingo reopens August 3

Carnival Bingo is one of north central Saskatchewan’s longest running Bingo halls and is quietly nestled behind a shelter of cedars just off 6^th Ave. E and Southwood Drive. Daily gatherings of friends and acquaintance assemble to try their luck at a favorite pastime. Little do we all know the impact this quiet bingo hall has on the community and the organizations and charities that work those afternoon, evening, and midnight bingos. For the past 15 months, it has just not been the same. Carnival is prepared to reopen August 3 with those three daily Bingo game sittings allowing for pre-pandemic levels of participation. Masks are optional. Times for Bingos are 1 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carnival Bingo is proud to have contributed over $5,000,000 – YES!… over $5 million dollars to more than 100 local charities and organizations in the past 5 years. Some of those organizations are hockey and ball teams, swim clubs and many service groups like Elks, Lions and Optimist just to name a few.

The main drive for Carnival Bingo is seeing the local service clubs and organizations share in the success that they have realized over the span of 30 years. They also get to work every day with people who continually go above and beyond the call to give back to the community. Those people are there for the same goal – to make our community a better place by helping any way they can. Today it is helping with Bingo.

The bingo hall is under the direction of a volunteer seven-member board of directors made up from the charities and organizations that benefit from the bingos held. Carnival Bingo must adhere to and follow all the rules as laid out by Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) and now the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). It hasn’t been easy and at one time there were several bingo halls in Prince Albert but Carnival Bingo has stood the test of time and continues to provide an entertainment destination while aiding the communities and organizations in the area.

For an outing of fun social time, players come from near and far to get their bingo on. Players can play for up to four hours for $32.00 or less if they desire to have a chance to win cash prizes. Carnival Bingo provides a comfortable atmosphere where friends and families can gather to play and support local charities and organizations.

The bingo hall also has a full-service canteen with full menu and daily specials. So, you can ward off that hunger pang while still enjoying your bingo game. Coffee and soft drinks and some great meals can help you through your bingo game.

The Charities that benefit from the proceeds of bingo are often headed by very dedicated Volunteers.

One volunteer testifies, “I am happy to volunteer at bingo. I get to see many familiar faces when I do and know that I am helping in the community with my lodge. We are grateful we are able to assist the Victoria Hospital Foundation as well as other groups.”

Carnival Bingo Hall is located at 3205 6^th Ave E across from the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert and has been smoke free since the new law took effect in 2005 and if you have not visited the bingo hall since before then, now is the time to get a group of friends together and enjoy a game of bingo and know you are helping many, many local organizations and charities to make Prince Albert a better place!
