Hockey Canada will be holding their National Women’s Development Team Summer Camp later this month.

One of the players invited is Brooke Hobson from Prince Albert. This is her second year in a row invited to the camp.

Hobson plays defence and is the captain of her university team, NCAA’s Northeastern University.

The senior was named as a Second Team All Star for Hockey East this past season and was also on the All-Academic Team, which she has been on for four years.

This season she recorded two goals and added 15 assists for 17 points in 25 games. In total she has 75 points in 132 games over four seasons at the NCAA level.

Brooke was apart of the Canada U-18 National Team at the 2017 Women’s World Championship in the Czech Republic, which got a silver medal, recording one goal in five games at the competition.

This past season her university won the Hockey East Championship and was the number one seed going into the NCAA Championship, making it all the way to the final losing to number two Wisconsin, 2-1 in overtime. Hobson had an assist on Northeastern’s lone goal.

Brooke is not the only girl from Saskatchewan invited to the camp. She will be joined by Ashley Messier from Wilcox and Grace Shirley from Saskatoon. Sophie Shirley was also invited to the camp but will not be able to attend.

The camp will take place from July 29 to August 9 at the Winsport Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
