Prince Albert’s Brooke Hobson is among 50 players from coast-to-coast invited to attend the National Women’s Development Team Summer Camp this summer.

The program is a weekly meeting until athletes return to university in the fall, and an opportunity to work closely with national brass for future events.

“It is important to recognize the accomplishment of these athletes being identified in our program at the under-18 and development level; they are a big part of our future moving forward,” Gina Kingsbury, director of women’s national teams with Hockey Canada in a release, said. “The virtual sessions taking place allow us to connect and educate our athletes on their development. We are also trying to take advantage of this opportunity to connect our next-gen athletes with our current senior athletes, creating a strong tie between generations of our program.”

The organization plans to cover topics such as strength and conditioning, mental performance, nutrition, competition preparation, and meetings with coaches.

Hobson is entering her senior season at Northeastern, coming off a stellar junior year in which the Huskies posted a 32-4-2 record. They were to enter the NCAA national championships as the third-ranked team in the nation, but that was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The defenceman had six goals and 15 points in 30 games with the Huskies.
