Five years of putting in the time and perfecting her craft have paid off for Prince Albert’s Olivia Harris.

The 14-year-old synchronized swimmer was named on the Saskatchewan Artistic Swimming High Performance Program for the 2021-22 season. Harris was named on the 13-and-older development team, and is the only swimmer on the team north of Saskatoon.

“I was really happy that I got on the team. We practiced all year and did lots of competitions,” Harris told paNOW.

Harris and the rest of the high performance athletes will gain access to training camps and practice with other top athletes and coaches in the province. Coaches will cover everything from routines, strength, flexibility, nutrition and even sports psychology. Harris mentioned she’s very excited to learn from provincial coaches and the other athletes.

Harris started with the Prince Albert Pikes Artistic Swimming Club when she was eight years old, but took a brief hiatus after her third season. She said he made the right choice to come back to the sport.

“I like learning new routines and I have lots of fun with my friends and coaches. I love going to competitions,” Harris said.
