City of P.A. declares State of Emergency

May 17, 2021 | 7:30 PM

The City of Prince Albert has declared a State of Emergency because of the blaze northeast of P.A.

The State of Emergency is in accordance with Section 20 of the Emergency Planning Act. A special city council meeting was held at 6:30 p.m.

An order to evacuate was issued for those who live and work North of Highway 55, West of the Honeymoon road and East of Cloverdale Road due to the wildfire.

“The area located directly adjacent to the northeastern City boundaries is at risk of spreading that requires prompt action to prevent harm or damage to the safety, health and welfare of persons located within the boundaries of the City of Prince Albert, and to prevent damage to property within those boundaries,” the media release from the City stated.

Those who are evacuated can go to the Margo Fournier Centre, not the Art Hauser Centre as originally declared earlier Monday by Sask. Alerts.

Upon arrival to the Margo Fournier Centre residents will be asked to register and will be given further instructions. Staff will be there until 9 p.m. and signs have been put up at the Art Hauser Centre to redirect everyone to the proper location.
