There is a greater incentive to golf than just making par this summer at Emma Lake Golf Course (ELGC).

The club’s Ross and Janet Ethier are hosting the 10th annual Victoria Hospital Foundation’s (VHF) Charity Golf Classic with tee times available between May 25 and August 31.

It’s a ‘flex version’ of the tournament that was held last summer in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions. Proceeds will go toward keeping the hospital foundation’s resident van on the road.

In a press release, VHF CEO Sherry Buckler said the dedicated long-term care transport van has been invaluable to the mental health and well-being of residents while in lockdown over the past year, as it has provided opportunities to get out and about.

The event, presented by ELGC and Lake Country Co-op is $160 per golfer or $640 for a team of four. Registration fees include a Texas scramble format, 18 holes and carts, a complimentary meal at the clubhouse and a $110 charitable tax receipt along with a chance to win prizes.

“As a long-standing cooperative that supports the communities we serve, it is very important for us to be able to provide contributions, especially during these trying times, to organizations that service so many people in our community,” said Tim Keller, CEO of Lake Country Co-op. “We know that our donations to the Victoria Hospital Foundation benefit the patients right here in the communities we call home.”

Golfers can book their tee times by calling 306-982-2054 or by visiting the foundation’s website to register and pay online.
