Police charge second person in investigation into death of Onion Lake man

A man accused of being an accessory to murder after the fact appeared Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Twobears Bird, 22, was arrested Tuesday in relation to the January 2020 death of Braeden Sparvier. At the conclusion of a short hearing, Bird was remanded to appear again Thursday morning.

Saskatchewan RCMP first received word on January 1, 2020 of a deceased male, outside a rural location in the R.M. of Frenchman Butte, west of St. Walburg. Two days later, Sparvier, who was living at Onion Lake Cree Nation, was identified as the victim and his death was ruled to be a homicide.

Seven months later, Shari Heathen, also of the Onion Lake Cree Nation was charged with second-degree murder.
