No evidence to support reported violent incident on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation
The Prince Albert RCMP have announced after an investigation on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation there was no evidence to support reports of gun shot sounds in the area or uttering threats at a rural home on Sunday.
According to a media release, RCMP received those reports within minutes of each other causing them to take action. They arrived at the residence to set up containment to secure the perimeter to keep the public safe.
Police say the initial information they obtained was the adult man who the complaint was directed at had a history of firearm violence. Because of this, the police called in reinforcements to help with the investigation including the Prince Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Team, Saskatchewan RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, Waskesiu RCMP, Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit and the provincial Protect and Response Team.
The police conducted a search warrant on the home to find the alleged gun and ammunition but after a thorough search they found no evidence to support the original reports. The investigation is now over and the police would like to thank the public for giving officers the space to do their investigation.
