Nov 24, 2020 | 12:00 PM

In a media release Tuesday morning, Hockey Canada said today’s Red-White game at the National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp in Red Deer, is being postponed due to COVID-19.

Scott Salmond, senior vice-president of national teams made the following statement.

“Hockey Canada confirmed earlier today that two players at Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been placed in quarantine at the team hotel in Red Deer.”

Along with the Red-White game at the Westerner Park Centrium being postponed, all camp activities for today have been cancelled.

As per Hockey Canada’s safety protocols, all players, coaches and staff members took mandatory COVID-19 tests upon arrival at camp and have continued to be tested regularly throughout the past ten days.

Hockey Canada added all players and team personnel will go through additional testing before resuming camp activities. The appropriate local and provincial health authorities have been made aware of the situation, and Hockey Canada will continue to work closely with Alberta Health Services. No further comment will be made at this time.

Prince Albert’s Braden Schneider and Prince Albert Raider Kaiden Guhle were invited to this year’s selection camp, which began on November 16.

Both defensemen participated in the first two games of the selection camp with Schneider competing on Team White, and Guhle playing for Team Red.
