Rural residents vote for reeve and councillors

MELFORT, Sask. – Elections were held in several rural municipalities today.

In the RM of Nipawin incumbent Craig Griffing defeated Shelly Smits in the Division 3 race. In Division 5 Ken Skibinski beat out Debbie Karle. In by acclamation are incumbent reeve Donna Hoppe and Division 1 councillor Brandon Perkins.

For the RM of North Battleford the incumbent in Division 3 Todd Winterhalt defeated Allison Bailey. Incumbent reeve Daniel Bartko and councillors in Division 1 Robert Hujdic and Ryan Shepherd in Division 5 were re-elected.

More results will be released at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

The RM of Connaught has a new reeve.

Councillor Ian Boxall defeated incumbent Arthur Lalonde.

Councillor Guy McCrea was re-elected. The other candidate in Division 1 was Dennis Magnus.

In Division 3 Quentin Thibault defeated Leon Perrault.

Incumbent Bradley Schiltroth lost to newcomer Lyndon Wrigley in Division 5.

There will be some changes at the council table in the RM of Willow Creek.

James Arsenie will serve as reeve after defeating incumbent Gordon Garinger and candidate Sandra Walker.

In Division 1, incumbent Vince Walker received more votes than Keith Hartt and newcomer Micheal Nelson will be the Division 5 councillor. He defeated Dustin Sturby and incumbent Tyson Waldner.

Brent Fenner is the newly elected reeve for the RM of Birch Hills. He defeated Allan Evans.

The councillor position in the division is still vacant and a byelection date will be set at first meeting of council.

Michael Kane is the councillor for Division 1 in the RM of Bayne. He defeated Kenny Weiman.

In Division 5 Terry Weiman beat out Dave Leuschen by one vote.

Voters in the RM of Prince Albert re-elected Eric Schmalz as reeve defeating Wayne Acorn.

In division three Guy St. Hilaire defeated Barton Fran and Allan Novotny.

Colin Sheldon is the newly elected councillor for Division 5.

Harvey Harriott was elected reeve in the RM of Meadow Lake. He defeated Timothy McKay.

Dale Sheppard was declared elected as Division 1 councillor over George Million.

In division three Ashley Russell defeated Alan Danilkewich and Brian R. Smith.

The councillor for division 5 is Blair Mysko over Joel Eaton.

Voters in Division 1 and 3 with the RM of Humboldt cast their ballots yesterday.

Chris Jenkins and Brendan Kalthoff are the newly elected councillors.
