MELFORT, Sask. – The Mandatory Isolation Support for Temporary Foreign Workers Program will be extended until the end of the month.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said the decision follows the government’s announcement to extend the Quarantine Act to the same date.

This requires temporary foreign workers to undergo a mandatory 14-day isolation period when they arrive Canada.

The $50 million program assists employers in the farming, fish harvesting, and food production and processing sectors with some of the costs involved in keeping the workers safe and healthy during the 14-day period.

The federal government will provide a maximum support of $1,500 for each temporary foreign worker, to employers who are required to isolate workers.

The funding is conditional on employers not being found in violation of the mandatory 14-day isolation protocols or any other public health order.

Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) supporters will have an opportunity to become a part of a special club.

CWA is about to launch a new lifetime shareholder program.

CWA CEO Chris Lane said they will be offering a limited number of shares which will entitle the shareholder to discounts, admissions, and VIP treatments throughout the shareholder’s life.

He said the 100 shares will give each owner benefits such as rodeo tickets and other services.

The shareholder program is one of a dozen events featured online to replace this month’s show which was cancelled this fall due to the pandemic

The price for the shares has not yet been determined.
