Two weeks after being selected 16th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Kaiden Guhle has signed an entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The 18-year-old is entering his third season in the Western Hockey League (WHL) having set career highs with 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points in 64 games in 2019-20. The native of Sherwood Park, Alta. has been a highly touted prospect all along. In 2017, Guhle was selected first overall in the WHL bantam draft by the Prince Albert Raiders, the same team his older brother Brendan played for from 2013 to 2017.

As a 16-year-old rookie, Guhle played a regular role on a veteran-laden team, helping the Raiders to the second league championship in franchise history before playing in all three games at the Memorial Cup.

This summer, the 6’2″, 186 lb defender was among 46 players invited to Hockey Canada’s virtual summer development camp ahead of the 2021 World Junior Championships.
