Woman at remand, dies at Pine Grove Correctional Centre

The death of a 50-year-old woman Thursday night at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre, is now the subject of an internal investigation by the Ministry of Corrections and Policing.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the woman was found unresponsive in her cell at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, and the Ministry has said the death is not related to COVID-19.

In addition to the Ministry’s investigation, both the Prince Albert Police Service and the Coroners Service will complete their own investigations.

Next of kin have been notified and the woman’s name is not being released.
