Province records seven new cases of COVID-19, four more recoveries

There are seven new cases of COVID-19 to report in the province and four more recoveries.

The provincial total is now at 1,757.

One case from Sept. 16 has now been removed from the total because it was out of province. The rest of the new cases are in Saskatoon (four), South West (one) and South East (two) zones.

None of the new cases in the Saskatoon area are linked to the gathering initially reported in the provincial news release on Sept. 13. To date, there have been 21 cases linked to the gathering and more are expected.

Of the total cases, 109 are considered active, with 29 of those cases from communal living settings. There have been a total of 1,624 recoveries, with four more recorded today.

Five people are in hospital receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon.

Of the 1,757 cases in Saskatchewan, 263 are travellers, 875 are community contacts, 520 have no known exposures and 99 remain under investigation by public health.

Across the province, 69 are health care workers although not all may have sourced their infections from work.

There are 294 cases involving people aged 19 and under. There are 574 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 538 in the 40 to 59 age range, 293 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 58 in the 80-plus age range.

Of the total cases, 51 per cent are females and 49 per cent are males.

There have been 24 deaths recorded in the province.

In Saskatchewan there are:

  • 434 cases are from the south area (222 south west, 197 south central, 15 south east)
  • 357 cases are from the far north area (349 far north west, 0 far north central, eight far north east)
  • 326 cases are from the Saskatoon area
  • 271 cases are from the north area (131 north west, 73 north central, 67 north east)
  • 229 cases are from the central area (168 central west, 61 central east)
  • 140 cases are from the Regina area

To date, the province has performed 164,666 COVID-19 tests with 1,515 performed yesterday. Testing is available to anyone who requests it regardless of whether they have symptoms.

Youth numbers

The province will now start to provide more information on cases and testing numbers for children aged 0 to 19 with data by age categories.

The data is provided by 32 sub-zones. The information is not specific to schools, but schools with declared outbreaks will be shared online, here.
