Teachers at Ecole St. Anne Catholic School in Prince Albert received a nice surprise Tuesday – an unexpected sign of appreciation. Paris Jewellers, a local retailer gifted each of the staff members a necklace as part of a Canada-wide initiative to show gratitude for their dedication and efforts in supporting students going back to school this fall.

Lacey Urban, store manager in Prince Albert chose St. Anne as the school to give back to, as she believes the teachers there exemplify the work all teachers are doing “to make sure children are safe during these times, and have made sure regulations that come up are being followed.”

All 27 stores across Canada will be taking part in this initiative, with store managers having the opportunity to pick which school they will support in their local community.

Giving back to teachers will be a first for the Canadian owned company.

“It’s our hoorah to the teachers for the beginning of the school year,” Urban said.

Principal at Ecole St. Anne, Kathy Gaudet was there to welcome Urban and receive the gifts on behalf of the staff.

“I am just so pleased. It really shows that people in our community are rooting for us,” Gaudet said. “We have such a great community who have supported us with everything that we have asked.”

Grade 3 teacher at Ecole St. Anne, Melissa McGregor is one of those teachers who is happy to be back in class.

“I couldn’t be more honoured to be a part of Ecole St. Anne School and a part of this wonderful community,” McGregor said. “To be recognized for something you love to do everyday and working with such great colleagues and administration, this is a piece of icing on the cake.”

Music teacher Robyn Holmlund also appreciated the gift.

“I’m so excited. We were so surprised to receive this,” Holmlund said. “It’s so nice to be recognized by the community and we are so grateful because we are so happy to be back in the class.”
